Planting Day Saturday, May 25th from 1:00PM – 3:00PM
Come to the 3rd Annual Planting Day at Rebarchek Farm! Each family attending will be given seed potatoes to plant in our potato patch. Planting will take place between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 25th. In the fall, families and the community will be invited back to our Harvest Day event to dig potatoes and take them home to enjoy. If you have a hand trowel and garden gloves, please bring them for planting!
If you don’t want to plant potatoes come to enjoy this iconic historical setting surrounded by beautiful scenery and various agricultural activities. Explore the budding food forest and its trails and learn about Hügelkulturs, Lasagna beds, and indigenous agriculture initiatives. Tour the restored Rebarchek farmhouse and the newly renovated Sjodin colony Barn. See a greenhouse full of a variety of native plants propagated as part of a Native Plant Initiative program, including the Chugach National Forest Resurrection Creek restoration project.
Our goal is to provide 200 families with hands-on experience of planting and harvesting a potato crop on the Rebarchek farm. After you are done planting, check out the newly renovated historical farm house and explore the Farm.
