Social Media Assistant, Full-time, Fairtime

Social Media Assistant will help create and deliver creative content to initiate and produce compelling and persuasive optimized content across various social media platforms. Maximize opportunities for engagement, ranking, click-throughs and conversion. Produce onsite copy, features, sponsor tagging, promotional copy for offers and other content as required.

Bartender, Fair-time position

Bartending employment begins around August 20th for prep, the Fair begins on August 22nd and lasts through September 2nd. Job position will continue through about September 6th for breakdown. We have several different venues with all types of hours. Must be willing and able to work outside in any type of weather, including wind and rain, as some venues are exposed. Weather aside, it is a fun job! TAPS card and cash register experience required. Bartending or barista experience is a plus. Must be able to lift 40 pounds and stand for long periods of time. Events Staff, Fair-time positions

Ticket Seller, Fair-time position

Ticket Taker, Fair-time position

Main Office Receptionist, Seasonal position – July through September

Grounds Crew, Full-Time, Seasonal

  • Minimum age 18.
  • Ability to lift 75-100 pounds.
  • Willing and able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Must have a valid drivers license with acceptable driving record.
  • Duties include, but are not limited to: Painting, carpentry projects, lawn mowing weed whipping, fence line maintenance and garbage pickup.

Recycle Shift Leader

Work the entire Fair and a couple of days before and after; 2 shifts available, approximately 10am – 5pm and 3pm – 10pm. Be a support person for the Recycle Coordinator. Make sure the recycle sorting area is running smoothly. Give instruction to volunteers, check the grounds to make sure barrels are positioned properly, and help where needed with collection and sorting. Keep the recycle area clean and organized. Must be able to work in all weather conditions and lift up to 30 pounds. Event Campground Host

Oversee camping area on the fairgrounds from May 15 to August 1.  Payment is use of a campsite, water, electric, and free dumping service.

Must

  • Have good customer service skills
  • Be able to reside in campground area for the duration and be able to work most weekends and all holidays.
  • Be able to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Have a good knowledge of the surrounding area and points of interest.

Duties include:

  • Greet and assist visitors in locating vacant sites,
  • Answer visitor questions, distribute maps and copies of regulations,
  • Perform light maintenance work around the campground area such as litter pickup, emptying trash cans and washing tables.
  • Keeping a written report of complaints, compliments and criticism of park amenities.
  • Reporting any maintenance items requiring immediate attention to Fair staff.

Experience preferred, not necessary.

Runner, Fair-time position

Duties include distributing daily schedules and programs daily throughout the Fair, running errands to different parts of the fairgrounds and community, and assisting with clerical assignments including answering the switchboard as needed.  Must be able to lift and carry up to 100 pounds, and must have a valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record.  Minimum age 18.  Please complete the Online Application or download the Application and mail/deliver to 2075 Glenn Hwy, Palmer Alaska 99645, fax 907.746.2699.

PARKING AND TRAFFIC

Minimum age 16. Ability to direct vehicles to the appropriate parking area once they have entered the fairgrounds. Work with certified flaggers to assist with keeping traffic flow steady and off the highway. Must
be able to work in all weather conditions, have excellent vision, must be able to work on uneven ground. Must have excellent customer service skills.

CERTIFIED FLAGGER

Rate is dependent on position, either on the highway or non-highway. Applicants must hold an ADOT Flagger Certification to apply for this position. Must be 18+ years old. Must have the stamina and ability to keeping traffic flow steady and off the highway. Must be able to work in all weather conditions, have excellent vision, must be able to work on uneven ground. Must have excellent customer service skills.

CROWD MANAGEMENT

Must be 17+ to apply for this positon. Positions vary from monitoring entry/exit gates, performances/shows, overnight positions and roving security. Must be able to stand and walk for entire shift. Must be able to work in all weather conditions, have excellent communication skills, must be able to work on uneven ground or blacktop. Must have excellent customer service skills.
