Handwork & Needlework General Information

Exhibit Entry – Irwin Building

Enter only once per class. Entries must have been completed within the last year, appear new, and be clean. Soiled, smelly, or wet items will be disqualified. Entries must be properly finished: framed to hang, stuffed, blocked, and hemmed. Embroidery classes use the same framing requirements as Art, except they need not be under glass. Attach a sleeve to the back top edge of quilted wall hangings, or superintendent may fold and pin them for display. All doilies and collars are to be blocked, starched and mounted on a contrasting color foam-core board with pins.

Judging criteria:

Overall appearance – 10 pts.
Workmanship – 15 pts.

Finishing – 10 pts.
Difficulty – 10 pts.

Bonus for originality 5 pts. (i.e. 1 or 2 pts. For changing the color scheme or altering a pattern in some way – 4 or 5 pts. For complete original design.)

All divisions are open to all ages. If you are entering as a Junior or Professional, place the appropriate letter on the entry form under sub-category. A professional is someone who sells or instructs.

B: Junior, ages 13 through 17

P: Professional

If sub-category is not specified, entry will be classified as OPEN. Entries without entrant contact/mailing information will be automatically disqualified and not judged.
