    907 Barrel Racers Association

    Come join the 907 Barrel Racers Association for some Barrel Racing and Pole Bending fun! Our mission is to provide barrel racers with a local organization that will promote the sport of barrel racing and its growth.

    907 Barrel Racers Association promotes a positive atmosphere where honesty, personal growth and politeness towards fellow horsemen exist, where horses are always respected, and where true western tradition is genuinely honored. Our goal is to increase the number of participants and members who share a love for a true equine athlete, the “Barrel Horse”.

    Glacier Equestrian Events Summer Circuit I Horse Show

    Glacier Equestrian Events will be hosting their Summer Circuit I Horse Show at the France Equestrian Center, May 26 – 28, 2012. The general Public is invited to come see the Horse Show; no spectator admission fees are required so, bring all your family and friends to enjoy the show. Enter through the Yellow Gate on the east side of the fairgrounds and the France Equestrian Center is on your left as, you enter through the Yellow Gate.

    Registration is open for all Exhibitors and the closing date for registration is Friday, May 18, 2012. Show Championships to be awarded and Circuit Championship awards are based on points earned at all (3) of the Summer Circuit Horse Shows.     Members enter through the Yellow Participant Gate on the East side of the fairgrounds.

    The 4-H Program is the only “Youth” program with direct access to technological advance in agriculture and life sciences, home economics, human development and related areas, which result from the land grant research. It is an off-campus, not-credit and voluntary education program of the University of Alaska Fairbanks that has been in existence for over 75 years. 4-H members and leaders can participate in a variety of district, state, and national activities. These include projects, show and competitions, Leader forums, conferences, Alaska State 4-H Fair, and volunteer training.

    Flyball is a fast-paced and exciting sport with teams of four dogs that compete in relay races. Each dog jumps over four hurdles, triggers a spring-loaded box, catches a ball, and returns over the hurdles. The competition will include a wide variety of breeds and mixes both large and small, including a Lhasa Apso (ranked #1 among the breed in North America), a Siberian Husky (ranked #4), a 65-pound Bernese Mountain Dog/Lab, and a 14-pound Poodle mix.

    Alaska Treasure Seekers 36th Annual Metal Detecting Hunt

    The Alaska Treasure Seekers Society is dedicated to family outings in search of lost or discarded items from the past. The club hosts a spring and fall hunt and an annual treasure hunt, open to everyone. At the Annual hunt you would use your metal detector to find coins and tokens to trade for prizes ranging anywhere from new hats to new metal detectors.

    You are invited to come join in the fun! Alaska Treasure Seekers will be having their 36th Annual Metal Detecting Hunt at the France Equestrian Center, June 23 – 24, 2012. The hunt will go on all day, Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and we look forward to having you and your friends join in the games or try your hand at speed panning.     Cardboard City 2012

    Family Promise Mat-Su invites you to join in the fun! Come out, Sleep out, attend Cardboard City and help to raise awareness for the homeless. Register to participate in Cardboard City and help Family Promise Mat-Su raise funds for the homeless people of the Matanuska Valley, Friday, July 20, 2012.

    Bring your Cardboard box and spend the night for a good cause! Experience what it may be like to be homeless; be creative and have a blast while making your home out of a cardboard box. Live music, soup kitchen, contest, and prizes along with outreach information, homeless education, and testimonials.

    Pre-register or register on site beginning at 5:00 p.m., July 20 and set-up will run till 8:00 p.m. at the south west corner of the fairgrounds. This allows time for setting up, decorating your dwelling, in preparation to spend the night.

    Family Promise Mat-Su helps people who've had medical crises, family problems, lost their jobs or whatever and missed paying their rent and got evicted. Since opening in 2005, the organization has helped over 300 Valley families, each staying an average of 30 days in the churches before finding permanent homes and a reliable income. Family Promise staff works with local agencies and schools to help the homeless become self-sufficient again. Become a resident of the city by collecting pledges; invite your friends, neighbors, and co-workers to participate.
