Instead of relying on single crops, it brings many species together so they can support one another, improve soil health, attract pollinators, conserve water, and produce food over time. The goal is to create a resilient, low-maintenance system that becomes more productive and balanced as it matures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Prep<\/strong>: Start the season strong by clearing paths, weeding, and spreading mulch to define new planting zones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Learn<\/strong>: Discover the seven layers of a food forest, how they mimic natural ecosystems, and why this method works especially well in Alaska.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Apply: <\/strong>Plant the first wave of trees and shrubs in our newly prepared area, with support species to kickstart ecological succession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>This and future workshops include a blend of learning, hands-on action, and community connection.
