This year\u2019s convention took place November 29 \u2013 December 2 in Las Vegas, Nevada.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_284\" style=\"width: 235px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.alaskastatefair.org\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/First-place-for-Printed-Promotional-Material.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-284\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-284\" class=\"wp-image-284 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/www.alaskastatefair.org\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/First-place-for-Printed-Promotional-Material-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"We received a first-place award for the 2015 Fair poster.\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.alaskastatefair.org\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/First-place-for-Printed-Promotional-Material-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.alaskastatefair.org\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/First-place-for-Printed-Promotional-Material.jpg 360w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-284\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">We received a first-place award for the 2015 Fair poster.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Our first-place awards included:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Competitive Exhibits Awards, Competitive Exhibit Display Photo (Single)<\/li>\n<li>Hall of Honor Communications Awards, Printed Promotional Material<\/li>\n<li>Hall of Honor Communications Awards, Commemorative Poster<\/li>\n<li>Hall of Honor Communications Awards, Misc. Marketing Promotional Display<\/li>\n<li>Hall of Honor Communications Awards, Unique Advertising Specialties\/Merchandise\/Souvenirs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>We were also honored with one second-place and four third-place awards<\/strong> in the agricultural, competitive exhibits and communications programs.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, <strong>the Fair received the 2015 Wine and Dine Marketing Award<\/strong> for our efforts at the Wine and Dine event, which supports the IAFE Education Foundation and its mission to provide continuing education for Fair management professionals. We partnered with Central Washington Fair and Canyon County Fair to pour samples of donated wine at the event.<\/p>\n<p>Our staff also <strong>showed their fun side by dressing as the Alaska State Fair rollercoaster<\/strong> at the IAFE Bacon Fun Run, winning the best team costume award.<\/p>\n<p>During the convention, Roxie Mayberry, the Fair\u2019s corporate partnerships director,<strong> graduated from the IAFE Institute of Fair Management<\/strong>. Earlier this year, Kelly Larson, Fair marketing and communications manager, <strong>received the IAFE\u2019s prestigious Certified Fair Executive (CFE) designation<\/strong>, which recognizes excellence in the fair management field.<\/p>\n<p>IAFE is a voluntary, not-for-profit corporation <strong>focused on promoting and encouraging the development and improvement of agricultural fairs<\/strong>, shows and expositions. The organization, which was established in 1885, today represents more than 1,100 fairs around the world, and more than 900 members from allied fields. Each year, delegates from the US, Canada, the UK and Australia attend the IAFE annual convention.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Alaska State Fair impressed the judges at the
