Grounds Crew

Job Type: Full-time Seasonal position

Minimum age 18.  Ability to lift 75-100 lbs and willing to work in all weather conditions.  Must have a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.  Duties include painting, carpentry projects, lawn mowing, weed whipping, fence line maintenance, and garbage pickup.  

Start Date: Seasonal openings, hiring in May but most begin in June.

Digital Marketing Coordinator

Job Type:  Starts part-time through 2024. Full time beginning in 2025.

Purpose:  Primary responsibility is to provide administrative and technical support to achieve marketing objectives and goals, including website, social media, and online advertising.

Reports to: Director of Marketing and Communications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Strong organization skills, including database, content and digital asset organization.
  • Excellent time management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in WORDPRESS.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, and other applications.
  • Knowledge and experience in producing and writing creative content for social media platforms; Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), TikTok and Snapchat.
  • Three to five years of marketing-related experience is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to collaborate with and support Fair staff.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Valid Alaska driver’s license.

Confidentiality:  Medium degree required.

Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with online digital advertising placement on Hulu, Spotify, Pandora and YouTube.
  • Maintain a presence on Fair’s social media accounts: TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), Snapchat, etc.
  • Assist staff in updating website information year-round.
  • Use digital asset management tools to successfully share a positive branding message consistent with Fair’s marketing plan.
  • Work in Google Analytics to pull data and input ad words.
  • Create and maintain online registration forms to facilitate participation.
  • Assist in training Fair staff in the use of WordPress and Event Espresso as needed.
  • Keep up with platform community guidelines to improve social media channel coordination, content creation, promotions, and outreach initiatives.
  • Help implement and follow yearly social media plan with goals, objectives, and strategies congruent with overall marketing goals.
  • Assist with preparation of IAFE, WFA, and other award entries, as requested.
  • Send out emails to our mailing list with Fair updates and promotions.
  • Maintain community online calendars with concerts and events.
  • Maintain databases for distributing Fair updates to vendors, members, exhibitors, media and other contacts.
  • Assist to collect, organize, revise, approve and distribute information pertinent to the Fair including copy, photos, archives, program, daily schedules, Mailchimp, and related projects.
  • Provide support with the souvenir ordering process, as needed.
  • Maintain office organization, files, and other clerical duties.
  • Treat everyone with dignity and respect at all times. 
  • Adhere to Alaska State Fair policies developed by the Board of Directors.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by Director of Marketing and Communications.

Start Date: Position begins in May.

Garden Crew

Job Type:  Seasonal

Gardeners needed for the 2024 growing season at the Alaska State Fair. Candidates must be willing and capable of following instructions, able to work outdoors as part of a group, able to work with garden tools and able to be supervised. Work includes: soil preparation, planting, watering, fertilizing and mowing. Other duties as assigned. This is a physical labor job! Candidates must be physically able to perform the duties required, being able to routinely lift and carry 30 pounds, kneel and or be on their feet all day in all weather conditions. Available to work a 40 hour work week with occasional overtime as needed. Candidates must also possess a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record. Must be 17 to apply. Various positions available.
