ENERGY DAY // THURS, AUG 24

Activities and exhibits on this special day focus on the energy that drives Alaska’s economy. Visit the Plaza to help AOGA celebrate 40 years of oil production from Prudhoe Bay, and get your photo taken in the free photo booth. Also, help us reduce hunger in Alaska and save on your admission! With a suggested donation of two nonperishable food items per person between noon and 2 p.m., you can get into the Fair for $2. (Must be through the gate by 2 p.m.) View the daily schedule >>

KIDS’ DAY // FRI, AUG 25

We celebrate our youngest fairgoers on this very special day of the Fair with free admission for kids 12 and under all day! Hunger knows no age – and neither does helping others, so please bring a donation of two non-perishable food items per child. Come meet Martin Buser and his puppies at the MTA tent in the Pioneer Plaza, and don’t miss the Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman Kids’ Day activities including the Combs Insurance Diaper Derby and Toddler Trot! BP DAY // SAT, AUG 26

Start your day at the Fair parade in downtown Palmer, then head over to the fairgrounds for a day of Fair fun! Stop by the BP booth in the Pioneer Plaza to pick up your free gift before you check out the Greatland Chili Fiesta, day one of Rodeo Alaska Champions Tour, and the Duck® Tape Creations Contest. Then end your day by dancing the night away at the Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman Rodeo Dance with the Ken Peltier Band! View the daily schedule >>

 

EXPERIENCE ALASKA DAY // SUN, AUG 27

The first Sunday of the Fair is dedicated to experiencing all the wonderful things Alaska has to offer! While there are many to choose from, the Alaska Salmon Alliance Alaska Seafood Throwdown cooking competition (featuring fresh, wild Alaska seafood prepared by some of Alaska’s top chefs) and day two of the Rodeo Alaska Champions Tour (starring Alaska’s top cowboys and cowgirls) are some of the highlighted events of this special day. WELLNESS DAY // MON, AUG 28

Today the Fair is all about the health of Alaskans! Pick up a wealth of information at the health related booths under the eaves of Farm Exhibits, and check out Exploring Disability Resources with LINKS as you choose a “disability” and complete the Access Alaska obstacle course. Plus, enjoy healthy food choices at the Fair, and enter the Fair’s step contest on Facebook or at the Alaska Glacier Products Events Tent! View the daily schedule >>

AARP DAY // TUES, AUG 29

Join AARP at the Fair for a fun-filled day celebrating Alaskans 50+! The daily schedule is packed with entertaining, energetic, and educational activities including Artists Uncorked – Painting on Canvas, garden tours, fly-tying demo, the Grandparent/Grandchild Look-Alike Contest and Senior Joke and Storytelling! Also don’t miss the 12th annual Alaska’s Midnight Sun Great Pumpkin Weigh-Off to see if we’ll set another new state record this year! View the daily schedule >>

COSPLAY DAY // WED, AUG 30

If our wildly successful Pokémon day last year was any indication, this day is going to be very popular and a lot of fun! Dress up like your favorite superhero, sci-fi , animé, video game or movie character and enter the Cosplay Costume Contest to win prizes in four categories including best overall costume! Pokéhunt as we drop lures all day at the fairground’s PokéStops. Meet your favorite SenshiCon and 501st Legion characters, catch the Character Parade, or participate in a game of balloon volleyball and human foosball! ALASKA GROWN DAY // THURS, AUG 31

Alaskans take great pride in being “Alaska Grown,” and there is strong support for “Alaska Grown” products. MINING DAY // SAT, SEPT 2

Celebrate Alaska’s mining past, and explore the future of mining in Alaska with fun mining activities and giveaways. Kids can try their hand at gold panning and enter the raffl e for a chance to win a bike! Plus, you won’t want to miss the Last Frontier Dutch Oven Cook-Off, and the Beard and Mustache Contest. ALASKA NATIVE CULTURES DAY // SUN, SEPT 3

Sharing, celebrating and furthering Alaska Native culture is a cornerstone of the Fair, as demonstrated at The Gathering Place, an area of the fairgrounds dedicated to showcasing Alaska Native performers and artisans from around the state.
