Greenhouse Worker/Gardener

Alaska State Fair is currently accepting applications for seasonal gardening/greenhouse work positions.  Applicants must have a current AK Driver’s License, acceptable driving record and be willing and able to work in all weather conditions.  Must also be detail oriented and able to routinely lift and carry 40 pounds.  Job openings beginning in the month of May.  See Alaska State Fair website at www.alaskastatefair.org for application form or contact Becky at 746-7188 or becky@alaskastatefair.org.

FEC Attendant, Part-time, Seasonal

Maintain the France Equestrian Center’s buildings and grounds and provide service to equestrian customers.  Duties include painting, carpentry, lawn mowing, weed whipping, collecting trash, operating tractor and tools, and act as runner for minor supplies and parts.  Preparation and cleaning of practice areas, arenas, judges’ stand, bathrooms, and grounds for events.  Must be available to work weekends and evenings, ability to lift and carry 50 lbs., willing to work in all weather conditions.  Valid ADL and acceptable driving record.  Applications available at Alaska State Fair Main Office 8:00 am – 4:30 pm or www.alaskastatefair.org.  Contact Jesse at 341-9502 or fec@alaskastatefair.org for more information.

Recycling Program Supervisor

It is a part-time position; approximately two months, including  fairtime.

  • Applicant must be able to perform physical requirements of the job in inclement weather and a fast-paced environment.
  • Applicants must have people skills and an adept knowledge of recycling.
  • Tasks will include recruiting and scheduling of volunteers.

In addition, the supervisor will be responsible for the smooth operation of pick-up and handling of all recyclables, maintaining the sorting area, and understanding and promoting recycling to the volunteers, the vendors, and the general public.
