Fresh off his season 11 American Idol victory, Phillip Phillips will showcase his rich, raspy vocals and masterful guitar skills at the Fair in songs including his debut single “Home,” which marked the highest debut on the Billboard Digital songs chart with 278,000 downloads sold.In 2012, the 21-year-old, Georgia-bred singer/guitarist released his first album, “The World from the Side of the Moon,” which delivers acoustic-driven rock with an earthy, authentic sound and a soulful spirit.
Phillips first began making music when he was 14, after being introduced to the guitar by his now-brother-in-law. Several years later, Phillips formed an acoustic band with his sister and brother-in-law and added singing to his repertoire. After graduating high school, Phillips began studying industrial systems technology at Albany Technical College in Georgia, while continuing to play music.
With encouragement from his family and friends, Phillips auditioned for American Idol in summer 2011. He soon found himself thrilling audiences with songs by artists like Creedence Clearwater Revival, Otis Redding, and Wilson Pickett on the Idol stage. The rest is history, and Phillips and his fans have a bright future to look forward to.
