The Soda Jerk

NEW this Year!

Fresh-made Flavored Drinks. A variety of taste experiences!

On the Yellow Trail, South side of Farm Exhibits

New Food at the Fair

Two new food vendors will be serving hungry fairgoers at the 2012 Alaska State Fair – the Reuben Haus and the Alaska Soda Jerk!

The Reuben Haus was the winner of the food vendor showdown at our annual meeting in February, where meeting attendees sampled tasty bites from potential 2012 food vendors and then voted on their favorite. The winner was offered a booth at the 2012 Fair.

The Reuben Haus menu features reuben sandwiches, beer-battered mushrooms, and savory fries. The sandwich features beer-braised sauerkraut with bacon, house-made Russian sauce, Swiss cheese and corned beef on marbled rye bread grilled to perfection. Their small button mushrooms are breaded in a well-seasoned, amber beer batter, and are served with dipping sauce. The fries are made from Yukon Gold potatoes with a spicy seasoning blend, and come with ketchup with a kick. Find them on the Purple Trail, right next to a new covered eating area.

The Alaska Soda Jerk is also making its debut at the 2012 Fair. At the 50s-themed booth, fairgoers will find old-fashioned soda fountain favorites like chocolate egg creams, as well as refreshing drinks like cherry limeade and ocean waters, all served with a side of peanuts in the shell.

Beyond drinks, the Alaska Soda Jerk plans to serve up a fun experience, complete with 50s music and traditional soda jerk uniforms. The Alaska Soda Jerk will be located under the south eave of Farm Exhibits on the Yellow Trail.
