There’s plenty of fun brewing at the Fair, as the second annual Mighty Matanuska Brewfest draws closer. This year’s event will include beer sampling, food, musical entertainment and lots of fun. The brewfest will again benefit the Creation Station, an educational exhibit featured during the Fair. Each year, tens of thousands of fairgoers visit the Creation Station, where they learn from interactive, science-based exhibits, like this year’s Rainforest Experience.

The name “Element 47” – silver on the periodic table of the elements – reflects both the members’ long years of playing music for appreciative audiences, and the dazzling energy they bring to every show.

Tips for Having a “Mighty” Good Time
    • Get your tickets. Going into its second year, the Mighty Matanuska Brewfest is growing quickly in popularity – so get your tickets early! Tickets are $30 per day, and are available for purchase now.
    • Pick a driver. Enjoy the brewfest responsibly by figuring out how you’ll get home after the event. The best option? Designate a non-drinking driver – they’ll get into the brewfest for just $10 and will receive a coupon for a free espresso drink.
    • Make a plan. Each admission includes 20 three-ounce samples of beer – how will you use yours? Browse the list and read the descriptions of the more than 50 craft beers being poured at this year’s brewfest, and make a plan to try your favorites.
    • Bring your appetite. Don’t try to tackle this line-up of brews on an empty stomach! Head to the brewfest food booths to purchase BBQ ribs, bratwurst, pulled pork sandwiches, peanut potatoes, baked beans, potato salad, espresso and more.
    • Educate yourself on the entertainment. Each night of the brewfest features two talented local bands – Americana pop rock and classic rock on Friday, and reggae and more classic rock on Saturday. Learn about the line-up and then get your tickets – or come both nights and enjoy them all!
