Bring in your best purple flowers and vegetables for the Northrim Purple Plant contest. Northrim’s mascot, Peri the Purple Moose, and a panel of expert judges will select three winners in the following categories:
Purple Flowers: Enter one to three stems of any annual or perennial fl ower that is predominantly purple in color. Bring entries in a disposable container. Judging is based on color
– “purpleness” – and appearance.
Purple Vegetables: Enter one to three of any vegetable that is predominantly purple in color. Bring entries in or on a disposable container. Vegetables may be cut to display purple interiors. Judging is based on color – “purpleness” – and appearance.
All entries must be brought in during Northrim Bank Alaska Grown Day at the Alaska State Fair on August 27. Bring your entry to the Northrim Bank booth, which will be located in Pioneer Plaza on the Fairgrounds of the Alaska State Fair.
Entries will be accepted from noon – 3 p.m. only, with judging at 5 p.m.
2008 PRIZES:
1st place in each category: $100 cash prize and a Proud to be Alaskan hooded sweatshirt.
2nd place in each category: $50 cash prize and a Proud to be Alaskan hooded sweatshirt.
3rd place in each category: $25 cash prize and a Proud to be Alaskan hooded sweatshirt.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
• Flowers and vegetables must be grown by the entrant.
• Entrants’ name and likeness may be used in Northrim Bank advertising and press releases.
• Entries will be on display at Northrim Bank Alaska Grown Day, August 27, and at Northrim’s Wasilla Financial Center on August 28 and 29. All entries not picked up by 5 p.m. August 29 at the Wasilla Financial Center will be donated or discarded.
• The decision of judges is fi nal.
